Avon Valley Workshops

Enjoy the stunning views as you walk along the Avon Valley where canal and river intertwine. Aquaducts, viaducts and bridges; swans, storks and ducks; Saxon Churches, Tithe Barns and hidden villages offer endless photographic gems.

Departing either from the hamlet of Limpley Stoke, the village of Freshford or the town of Bradford on Avon we complete a circular and leisurely walk, allowing plenty of time for questions and reviewing photographs. The workshop runs for approximately 3 hours.

Whether you are a beginner or keen amateur the workshop will help you get the most out of the settings on your camera, provide you with the fundamentals of composition and exposure, and guide you through the concepts of depth of focus, lens choice, contrast, tone and texture.

The groups are always small (max 4 people) allowing time for 1 to 1 personal tuition along the way.

Each participant will have a phone call with Chris beforehand – to determine what they would like to get out the workshop and to confirm meeting point.

You will need:

A camera or smartphone
Weather appropriate walking clothes and shoes, a water bottle
To be over 16 if unaccompanied by an adult

Tailored Workshops

I can create a personal workshop just for you. Theme, topics covered, location, schedule, and timings can all be tailored to meet your needs.

A full day workshop for 1 person is £250 and £300 for 2 people. A half day workshop is £125 for 1 person and £150 for 2 people.

You can book a half day session or a block of several sessions, prices are adjusted accordingly.

Dates and times are flexible, so do get in touch and I’ll come up with a plan that best suits you.

Lightroom Post-production Workshop

To compliment your Avon Valley Workshop I offer LIGHTROOM workshops which give you an introduction as to how to edit your photographs. Topics covered include file handling and management, different file types (RAW, TIFF, JPEG), and post-production techniques that really bring your images to life and make them ‘pop. We work on our images together using both global and local adjustment tools such as highlights, shadows, contrast, clarity, gradient filters and much more.

Each session lasts 2 hours and all you need is a laptop and the Lightroom software which can be downloaded as a trial version for free. If you don’t have a laptop we can work on mine.
